Some aspects of parent-teacher relationships.

Abstract

This study has its genesis in the fact that the Ara As much of the information for this investigation was supplied in confidence it has been necessary to refer to the School under an assumed name. Public School has no organisation to foster co-operation between parents and teachers. From interviews with parents and remarks made at social gatherings sponsored by the School Committee and at the Biennial Householders' Meeting it appears that quite a number of parents are keenly interested in the school and in the school work of their children. However they lack the means of showing their interest in a practical manner, and of satisfying their desires to learn more of the aims and methods of the teachers. This point will be further elaborated in Chapter I. From remarks made by the teachers it appears, moreover, that they, too, would welcome opportunities, such as becoming acquainted with the out-of-school lives of their pupils and with the parents themselves Such knowledge they feel is absolutely essential if they are materially to assist in solving the child's school problems, emotional as well as educational.
