dc.description.abstract The principal aim of the investigations presented in this paper is the correlation of all available evidence in an attempt to elucidate the taxonomic status of the N.Z. "Veronicas". A study of morphological characters is made and combined with cytological evidence in an attempt to divide the N.Z. "Veronicas" into natural groups which can be used as basis for further discussions. Primitive characters and evolutionary trends in both N.Z. "Veronicas" and the Northern Hemisphere Veronicas are discussed in order to show lines of evolution and indicate further the natural relationships between the above groups. en_NZ
